Started as a student project and continuously expanded since then, Grimys Antiqua currently consists of 10 weights, two scripts, includes over 600 glyphs per master, and Italics in progress. The typeface questions the current market standard for Cyrillic typefaces and offers Humanistic Cyrillic as main Cyrillic character set. This refers to the construction of the lowercase characters, as these introduce graphemes that differ from their corresponding uppercase characters. Humanistic Cyrillic is defined by many type artists and designers as an evolutionary step in the Cyrillic world, which respectfully impacts the status quo, and standardized Cyrillic is seen respectfully as a “historical” or “obsolete” variation. This logically improves the consistency on a multiscript level and offers increased legibility. Story continues with the upcoming updates (..)
