Grimys Antiqua currently consists of 10 weights and includes over 600 glyphs per style, with the first two — Regular and Italic, set for a release in the summer of 2025. The typeface challenges the prevailing market standards for Cyrillic typefaces by adopting the so-called “humanistic” Cyrillic lowercase as main character set, rather than relegating it to a localized secondary role. Humanistic Cyrillic is widely regarded by type designers as an evolutionary step in the development of Cyrillic script — one that respectfully challenges the status quo. In this context, the “standardized” Cyrillic is increasingly viewed as a “historical” variant. Embracing the humanistic Cyrillic enhances multiscript consistency and improves overall legibility.
